McNulty’s Statement on Colorado’s September Employment Report

DENVER—Today, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment released the Colorado employment situation report for September.

Speaker Frank McNulty, R-Highlands Ranch, issued the following statement concerning the report:

“Today’s report reinforces what we all know, Colorado’s hardworking families are not better off than they were four years ago. Under President Obama, we have almost 36,000 more Coloradans unemployed, hardworking Coloradans have become so discouraged that they have given up looking for work resulting in more than 23,000 fewer people in our workforce, and Colorado’s unemployment rate has increased more than 20 percent. We can do better. Colorado’s hardworking families deserve better.

“We need to clear away unnecessary and harmful government regulations and get government out of the way so that Colorado’s job creators can grow their businesses and create good-paying jobs for our friends and neighbors. With Colorado’s unemployment rate still higher than the national rate, we need to continue our focus on job creation and economic opportunity and together we can build a better Colorado for Colorado’s families”.
